As part of a decentralised cooperation between the Water Union of Ile-de-France (SEDIF) and the municipalities of the province of Atsimo Andrefana, in the south-west of Madagascar, Experts-Solidaires technically supports projects in partnership with the Regional Directorate of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (DREAH) in Tulear
The project in the village of Ankililoaka (population 10,000) is divided into three parts:
- The construction of a new water system in Ankililoaka
- A home sanitation component
- Technical and financial monitoring and management support to water system managers in Atsimo Andrefana province
in September 2015, the well in the centre of the village gives the inhabitants access to unsafe water and the road to get there is littered with rubbish. Today, the network has been in operation for 7 months: a water tower feeds the city and about 80 m3 of drinking water is distributed every day, reducing the risk of contamination and disease.
This project is funded by SEDIF andthe Seine Normandy WaterAgency.
